Me in a Nut Shell: strong roots and a broad wingspan
Born and raised in Indianapolis, my enormous Irish Catholic clan of a family (and all the rest of you outlaws) will never be far from my heart.
I'm a big, huge goober who's always down to try anything new. I laugh until I cry, and I take the world far too seriously. I love sunlight and cooking and swinging in the rain. I hate showers and sandy shoes. I spend an excessive amount of time climbing rocks. I cook almost entirely vegetarian, but take me to brunch and I'll order Eggs Benedict every time. My life aspirations include returning to Spain to complete the Camino de Santiago, growing a backyard garden, and completing a single pull up. |
I'm joining the Peace Corps in Guatemala because...
...it's a goal I've had since the age of twelve. ...I love traveling and living abroad. ...I'm ecstatic to improve my Spanish and even more-so to pick up some Mayan. ...the conversation surrounding US immigration often overlooks the marginalized population of impoverished, indigenous Mayans who migrate but rarely even speak Spanish. ...I live in a high risk, high reward frame of mind for the important things. ...I firmly believe that you can never advocate for a group of people without intimately understanding their needs through experience with them as individuals. |
